In the PC game Renoir, the story centers on James Renoir, a former police officer. The city’s gangs and their families have become so influential that their corruption has infiltrated the very heart of the city. The police force, crippled by a corrupt government, is powerless and merely puppets of those in power. However, with the arrival of a young, inspiring politician, things begin to improve, and Renoir is promoted to Detective for his relentless fight against crime.
Embracing his new status among the higher echelons of society, Renoir finally meets the woman of his dreams. Just as everything seems to be falling into place, two gunshots shatter his world. Sitting by a grave in a cemetery, Renoir comes to the shocking realization that the body inside the grave is his own.
Now a ghost with unique abilities, Renoir can control phantoms and use them to solve puzzles. He sets out on a quest to uncover clues that will lead him to his murderer.
